Excelsior-based Coalition had just opened a new location in South Minneapolis in the 50th & France neighborhood. The owner wanted a fresh look for their new restaurant. Coalition’s graphic designer had come up with a great concept for a blade sign, but needed some help making it a reality.

The KORT design team had helped Coalition with its window graphics for the original restaurant in Excelsior. We jumped at the chance to help with the trendy look the designer had created for the new location. Coalition’s new blade sign incorporated a contemporary wrought iron bracket and a stained wooden shingle. The restaurant’s name would be engraved into the sign and then painted bright white to pop against the wood.

The restaurant’s logo was engraved using the router table and the wood was stained a deep brown. Then, one of our talented designers meticulously hand-painted the logo in crisp white and yellow to make it stand out. The entire sign was clear-coated to protect it against the elements for years of use.

The last step in the project was to install window graphics at the South Minneapolis location to match those of the ones that adorn the windows in Excelsior. We were honored to help Coalition with its recent expansion into South Minneapolis.
